I prefer menus with the names of the programs, rather than their descriptions. The latter is the default in my Debian/KDE 4.7.4 menus.
So I used the menu editor to replace the descriptions with the program names, and now I get the names in the menus. That's the good news; the bad news is the names are in all lowercase, e.g., "kate" instead of "Kate," the way I have it in both the program name and the description. I even looked at the /usr/share/applications/kde4 filenames, and the program names and descriptions have the first letter capitalized. Why aren't the menu names capitalized? Lane

OK, thanks, I see that now. I checked that box, but the names are still all lowercase. This seems to be a problem only with the Favorites. The program names in the Applications menus start with a capital letter. Lane |

The entries in Favorites likely are no longer being found. Can you try removing them, then adding them again?

That did it! All is well now, and I thank all of you for your input. Lane |
