You will need to perform this check recursively. ls -lR should do this. Those permissions look fine to me however. (644 for files and 755 for directories should work fine). This could also be caused by a corrupt icon file though.

OK, here's the output of ls -lR /usr/share/icons/.

I couldn't see anything wrong with that I am afraid. At this point, I am out of ideas... the correct icon obviously is not being found, leading to KDE falling back to a different icon.

Same issue with oxygencolors icon theme.
I solved it:
1) copy video-display.png from
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/48x48/devices
to
~/.kde/share/icons/oxygencolors/48/devices/video-display.png
and to
~/.kde/share/icons/oxygencolors/48/apps/preferences-desktop-display.png
2) edit ~/.kde/share/icons/oxygencolors/index.theme
add "48/apps,48/devices" to "Directories" directive
add
Code: Select all
[48/apps]
Size=48
Context=Applications
Type=Threshold

[48/devices]
Size=48
Context=Devices
Type=Threshold

under [48/actions] section.

3) relogin

Thank you so much for your reply, but this didn't work for me. Very frustrating!

By the way, my theme directory is like this: ~/.kde/share/icons/oxygencolors\(v5.1\)/48/devices/

try to use new version of oxygencolors icons, and put it into ~/.kde/share/icons/oxygencolors - without brackets

Done.

Unfortunately, no way to solve.
Very absurd!

GREAT!!!

Your modded theme worked like a charm to me too!

I would like to know the reason why mine it's not working.
Furthermore, I like your mod very much. I'll keep it! ;D

Thank you very much.

Glad to help!

Don't know, why original not working.
Guess because of some bugs in it.
Here one of i've found: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/oxygencolors?content=104048#c440130

Yes, but I think that is not relevant for the bug we are discussing here.
If your modding is just what you said in this thread, it's strange that it didn't work to me, since I've done just what you said. :-\

My modding:
1) delete folder "22" and remove reference to it from index.theme. I don't need that black icons.
2) customize theme with customize-oc.sh
3) fix broken links (bug in relinker.sh)
4) tricks with monitor icon: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=101515&p=254031#p253877
that's all.
