Screen (Saver?) on desktop

Tue Apr 24, 2012 8:29 pm
I have a series of pixel squares appearing on my desktop. Other times it is lines dropping down from the top of the monitor. Is this a screensaver that I have activated by accident? How can I stop it? I have gone to system settings but did not find any help.
Thank you.

Moved to Workspace.

Press Ctrl+Escape and see if you have xscreensaver running. A screenshot would also be helpful, but I guess the animation stops when you press a key or move the mouse?

Xscreensaver is not running. I cannot get a screen shot when it starts the Cover up. I did find a screen shot I took a while back that shows the desktop I am trying to get back too. I do not know what I did to lose it and messed up trying to reinstall it. How do I insert a image in the Forum reply?

Unfortunately the forum doesn't support attachments, so you have to upload the file somewhere else first, e.g. Imgur.

Thank you for the tip. Here is a picture of the screen as I had it. I want to return to it.

Thanks for any help.
I think I got the screen saver problem that was putting the dots on the screensolved. Now I want to find this desktop again.

We'll solve that issue over in the other thread.
