If you look at the screenshot , this is not a rotation problem but a image direction problem.
The window titles are in the correct place but the content is reversed
Do you have this problem or a totaly rotated screen ?

This is an extremely unusual situation. I would check that you have installed all updates successfully, do not have any older X configurations around, and finally would attempt to reproduce under a new user.

I came here looking for a fix, to find out why it happens.

one temporary work-round might be to use xrandr to flip it back

type xrandr to determine name of display, e.g. LVDS1

then try these commands

xrandr --output LVDS1 --reflect normal -d :0.0

or

xrandr --output LVDS1 --reflect y -d :0.0

@sullivan
- what distro and version (original thread was for Mageia 2)
- upgrade or new install
- what gpu and drivers are installed
- does it happen to a newly created user

Also, please indicate if KScreen is installed, and the output of "xrandr" may be helpful here as well.

just ran upgrade of kde on opensuse 12.3
all windows screens are now upside down and reversed
keyboard is non-responsive
only mouse sort of works except that you have to guess where to click with it (not on the customary icons)
the window frames and title bars are still right side up however
my only option is to reinstall now

Which graphic card?
Which driver ?

In the same situation i reinstalled the property nvidia drivers, and the problem was solved

You can check by changing your driver to vesa for example and reboot the pc, if this is evident for you.
