Please forgive me if this is a simple thing, but I can't seem to find any help on it. I accidentally clicked on "Show Toolbar" in the "Settings" menu on one of my applications. Now, the toolbar is gone. I can't figure out how to get it back. Any ideas?

If you haven't done any customizations, you can simply move KDEHOME/share/apps/<appname>/<appname.rc> away and the default layout will be restored (KDEHOME is either .kde or .kde4 depending on the distribution.)

Which application? You can often toggle the toolbars from the menus (e.g. Settings -> Toolbars Shown).

@einar, thanks. That's one of the first things I tried. The app is ktorrent, and it appears the proper file is ktorrentgui.rc which I simply renamed to oldktorrentgui.rc. Still the same, even after reboot. @Hans, thanks, but I did that accidentally to remove the toolbar in the first place, so now I can't get at that menu item to put it back (and the Alt-keys for it don't work either). Any other ideas?

OK, I just fixed it. Here's what I did. I went instead to the .kde/share/config folder and found a ktorrentrc file. I copied it to oldktorrentrc, then edited it (very carefully, because it has non-ascii stuff in it -- I used emacs). There is a line in there under the [MainWindow] section that read MenuBar=Disabled. I changed it to Enabled, restarted ktorrent, and all is well.

That is a very evil little menu item.

Thanks!

If I recall, pressing Ctrl + M should cause the primary toolbar to be hidden and shown in all KDE applications.

That, my friend, is a much easier solution than editing an rc file! Thanks for that. (another pint I owe you!)
