Error message: Failed to load session "gnome"

I just tried to set up a new user account. When I try to log in with the new account name, I get this error: "Failed to load session "gnome"." Then the screen goes black and I the login screen comes up again. There is no gnome on my computer.

on the KDM login screen click "session type" and change selection to KDE

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x
