Heh, surely kde4 can't be THAT bad...anyway, to get rid of the compiz borders do this (I assume Mandriva is using KDE 4.1.2)

Start systemsettings. In "Default applications", there should be an option to change "Window manager" (at the bottom of the list). Make sure that one says "Use the default KDE window manager (KWIN)" instead of "Compiz fusion" and press apply. You may need to logout and in again for it to take effect though.

(the kwin --replace & as earlier in the thread does the same thing but needs to be put in a script or you'll have to repeat the procedure on every login).

well i went back to mandriva...same annoying panel...did task kde 3, but the same window bordering issue again, and the window manager is not there, here is a snapshot.

nevermind got it with the fusion focus plugin.thanks everyone! And now just need to auto orphan and bye bye to kde4!

Assuming that's KDE 4.1 or 4.0 (Kicker is confusing...) the setting is in Advanced -> Session instead of default applications like it is in 4.2 and backports.
