it may be because im running it on a system optimized for xp, and the new release seems more aimed at vista. should i just go back to an earlier version, or is there a solution to my problem?

XP? Vista? Are you running Linux or Windows?

im running linux, but i think that the new release is designed for comps that can handle vista, and im doing this on a laptop designed for xp, plus im a noob and im dont really know that much about comps.

What graphics does your computer have? Nvidia, ATI, Intel, etc. The fact that it has a "Designed for XP" sticker on it is completely irrelevant. KDE 4 should run beautifully on most hardware with 256 MB memory or more ( it can even work fine under 128 MB, I tried it when I ran KDE4Daily, it was just a touch slow )

im running an intel 915 with i810 driver. i dont know what that means but i hope it tells you something. it just seemed to me that it may have been that my graphics card wasnt advanced enough for the new configuration, and all the releases up to the new ibex one work fine. and the only problem i had with the ibex was the flashing screen, which is more of an annoyance than anything else.

Your graphics driver appears to be correct. Fellow Intrepid Ibex users here are suffering the same problem, and they run GNOME too. Looks like it is an X bug.
