Well theres two issues. And this is with the nvidia 304 blob with randr support, monitor via dvi and with TV connected via HDMI, and KDE 4.8.4.

First, when I turn my TV on, the popup opens to configure the display. So the "Display KDE Control Module" opens up, and I can select the TV resolution (from off) and when clicking apply the TV gets set with the desktop. But if I select the resolution and also set the position to anything other than "above," for the initial setup, the TV never gets the signal. I have to first set the resolution, press apply so the TV receives the signal and turns on, and then change the position.

Secondly, when I turn off the TV, the "Display KDE Control Module" pops up, and shows just my monitor remaining but the "apply" button is grayed out. The screen never "goes black" as xorg resets to the original setup, and therefore my "screen edge actions" do not work. I have to change the monitor resolution and then set it back for it to go back to normal.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

cliffs:
- can't set resolution and position at the same time for randr
- xorg server doesn't reinitialize after a display is disconnected

If you make a change, then change it back, does this allow you to apply the new settings?

Only way the display gets a signal is if I originally use a position that is not the right position or set it to right but changing the orientation and then change it back.

Does running "xrandr --auto" do anything (ignoring the control module for the moment).

Both of these work how I would like:

Code: Select all
$xrandr --auto --output DVI-I-3 --mode 1280x720 --right-of DVI-I-2
$xrandr --auto --output DVI-I-3 --off

Does the control module have the ability to issue the off command when a display is disconnected? Not sure why the "--right-of" wouldn't work from the module

Unfortunately I don't know.
The multiple monitor support module is something that needs rewriting it seems as there are issues with how it functions.
