Is there any way to open a knotes file? I tried using knotes but there is no open file option, just save. Are there any there any other programs that i could use?

Kontact -> Popup Notes -> double click the desired note

if you just wish to extract some date from the file you can open it in Kate (or any text editor) and the notes' text is on the lines beginning with "DESCRIPTION:"
