Are only KDE applications affected? What about non-KDE applications?

Thanks for your reply
Well, I can't exactly say, which application is based on KDe and which is not. For example Firefox and Thunderbird are affected, I think, they are no native KDE apps, but well integrated. On th other hand, Opera shows a gtk surface on my system and is not affected by the problem. Kate and dolphin also don't seem to have any problems, but when I shonw the fonts in the KDE system settings, they look as awful as in Firefox. |

Does removing ~/.fontconfig/ after this issue occurs have any impact upon the issue? (Application restarts will be required).
Also, are already running applications affected by this in any way - or just newly started applications?

Hi bcooksley thanks for your answer
unfortunatuley removing ~/.fontconfig does not help The Problem also appears in running applications, but only when the Text changes. For example loading an new page in Firefox or scrolling throug text. |

I have a similar problem which is not really reproducable reliably. But when it happens, it looks exactly like on your screenshot. I'm also using arch linux. The error does not seem to be related to KDE at all. Maybe something is broken in the arch land?
I have a nvidia graphics card with the blob driver, what do you use?
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

You should post to https://bbs.archlinux.org/ if you haven't already.
Did you update your font configuration when you updated fontconfig? See https://www.archlinux.org/news/fontconf ... -required/ Does it happen with a new user?
