Dolphin and network

Mon Dec 10, 2012 12:48 pm
Hello there people!
I have question about dolphin:
In Places I press Network>Network There is nothing? then I press update? two hosts appear? lets say host1 and host2. I'm on host1, want to connect to host2. Press host2, and I see Icons:
Terminal Icon host2
Device icon host2 (in properties window it says - host2.udisks-ssh)
Network folder host2[BSSID] (in properties window it says - host2[someID].workstation)
With terminal icon I make terminal ssh conection, but I can't connect device Icon or network folder icon. What they do? I don't find any info
In Network>Network services I find fish disk what can I do with that? There's two folders inside:
host2 (in properties window it says - zeroconf)
Remote Access to host1
What is this for? I want to start using it, but I can't, because when I press on them they do nothing, they are empty.
Can you point me to some tutorial or howto on that. Many years I use KDE, tried many distros, but never have seen it working. Or maybe I just don't understand it?
P.S. I know how to use address bar for connection, but want to use Network option in Dolphin.

Unfortunately this is a little tricky - as it is trying it's best to display services advertised by the other machine via Avahi (aka. Bonjour). Unfortunately in many cases it is difficult to map these to applications which can handle them. Those entries which are not working are prominent examples of what happens when this mapping is not successful.

I would suggest invoking fish:// or sftp:// manually (through the address bar or via a bookmarked shortcut) to access the other computer, as it will be more reliable.
