Hello All.
I have a dual display config the second display is used primarily as a TV. Is there any way to tell KDE to open tvtime not on the default display but rather on the second display? The same is for the other apps? How to tell apps what display to use initially? Thanks! |

From kwrite --help-all:
According to xdpyinfo, the X name of my display is ":0", with a single display in use... |

Thanks for the time you took finding out a solution. I think --display option in kwrite actually means SCREEN. I didn't mention that I have one screen, nvidia drivers and 2 displays working in TwinView mode. Not 2 screens. kwrite --display :0 works fine but kwrite --display :1 outputs kwrite: cannot connect to X server :1 so I think kwrite's display actually means screen. I've just found a universal solution for one screen configuration working in TwinView mode. (two displays, the primary display is at the left side of the secondary display) Instructions: 1. Find out your primary display horizontal resolution (for example 1280) 2. Open tvtime (or any other application) in window then go to More Actions -> Special Windows Settings then click on Size & Position 3. In Size & Position tab check Position then choose Remember from the pop-down menu 4. Set position to 1280,0 5. Click on Apply 6. Now start tvtime (for example press on Power Button on your remote), tvtime starts in window at the second display 7. Switch to Full Screen mode and exit from tvtime From now on each time you start tvtime it opens on the secondary display in full screen mode. It's particularly convenient with remote control. You just press Power button and your TV is started at the second display in full screen, working pretty much like a common TV-set. I have the second display in 2 meters from the first mounted to the wall. |
