I was toying with Menubar styles as described by Martin

http://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2 ... ecoration/

However there is a small problem observed with "Top Screen Menubar" In which I was not "Bookmarks" menu of Firefox (19 in Kubuntu 12.10) was not expanding. I have a bit too many bookmarks there and "Title Bar Button" configuration is not having this problem.

With regards,

Another related observation.

This particular menubar style does not work at all for Firefox 19 on Kubuntu 12.04.

Wrong board. This is not related to kwin.
The menubar thing is between the appmenu kded and the appmenu implementation in the client.
If only FF is affected, it's likely about it's appmenu implementation.

May I request Administrator to move it to the appropriate place.

I've moved it to the Workspace forum now.

The first issue you reported (the undersized menu entry) sounds like a bug in the menu system - which should be reported on bugs.kde.org.
As for the second issue, can you elaborate on "not working at all"? If the menu bar is not shifted to the top of the screen, then it is probable that the needed plugins or patches for Firefox are not installed on that system.

I generally do not file bugs on kde site as I feel that the problems are well looked after in the forum itself. Whenever developers have a way to resolve the descriptions of complex situation, they can file themselves. Populating public records is conscientiously avoided. Probably after sometime you would start regulating it and I feel some may be already asking for such a thing.

"Not working at all" for the second issue means that no change takes place in firefox menu display if I choose "Top screen menubar" and "Title bar button". It remains in the "In application" mode. I generally live with vanilla installation. Kindly let me know about specific checks to be performed.

I'm not sure unfortunately on what components are needed to make Firefox functional with regards to the menubar - I am guessing it needs either direct patching or some form of plugin. It may not even support this functionality.

In one of my computer (home), it was working propoerly. Kubuntu 12.10, amd 64 etc.
It is not working on another computer (office). Kubuntu 12.04, intel etc

Kindly let me know if further details are needed.

Can you check to see which "mozilla" or "firefox" related packages are installed on the 12.10 box, and compare those with the 12.04 system?
I suspect some form of extra extension or plugin may be installed there which is doing this (or Ubuntu patched it, likely to benefit integration with Unity).

The required package to get the firefox menus to cooperate with the appmenu is firefox-globalmenu, which should be available in the ubuntu (updates) repository with the firefox package itself.

Thanks airdrik,

Installing this package solved the issue, however bookmarks menu remain inaccessible as described earlier. It appears to me, some shading effects, that some deaults make large bookmark menu to open upwards. Thus the whole menu is diplayed in the region outside visibility. Probably implementing multicolumn/row view may sort it out.
