trackpad no longer working

Wed Mar 27, 2013 8:36 am
i am having aproblem with the trackpad on my laptop which is running fedora 18. it has been working perfectly up untill i pressed the hardware button which disables the trackpad. at which point i got a constant barage of notifications saying the trackpad is being enabled then disabled.
on enableing the track pad with the hardware button again the notifications stopped but my trackpad no longer works.

the trackpad is enabled in settings and synclient trackpad=0. the trackpad works on the log on screen up untill the point the setings icon is displayed and works fine on other log ons.

anybodygot any ideas please.

Please open System Settings > Startup & Shutdown > Service Manager, and check "Startup Services" for anything related to Touchpads. If you find any relevant modules, please try disabling them, then logging out and back in again.

This should cure it hopefully.
