In beginning time I installed Unetbootin, it is fine to add my local Linux ISO then burn it into USB. But after I install KDE, I don't know why Unetbootin face become Qt (GTK before) and needs too long time for loading KDE File Chooser Dialog. And Unetbootin becomes greyish (like usual crash on Ubuntu) soon after I clicked add ISO button.
Problem: I have ran Unetbootin via $ sudo unetbootin and the result was always like these: Error: "/tmp/ksocket-master" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0. Error: "/tmp/kde-master" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0. Long time to open Unetbootin, and it looks like crashed, makes me difficult to burn ISO quickly like before. ![]() |

what if you just type unnetbootin ?
for me neither sudo or kdesu preceding the command works but either just the command (it will ask for root pswd) or from a root terminal session does work |

Wow, you again. Thank you. But it is same, hang for 1++ minute when I use unetbootin only in bash. Any suggestion?

I can't find any config files for it and it doesn't seem to have any available options so all I can think of is try reinstalling it or getting the executable directly from them http://sourceforge.net/projects/unetboo ... irror=iweb
you can try posting/searching on their monitored bug and answers sites https://answers.launchpad.net/unetbootin https://bugs.launchpad.net/unetbootin |

Look to QFileDialog::getOpenFileName on unetbootin.cpp and add (on correct parameter place. 6th I think) 'QFileDialog::DontUseNativeDialog'. It is a known problem with Qt >= 4.8 and, hopefully, will vanish on Qt >= 5.x series (developer wont fix, last time I heard).

if you still have Gnome and login a Gnome session does it work ok?

A GNOME session won't use the KDE platform plugin, so that will also work around the issue.
I suspect Unetbootin is suffering from the same issue which affects VLC and other applications which operate in a non-standard manner. In terms of a solution, try clearing the environment variable KDE_FULL_SESSION before starting Unetbootin.

I have downloaded this executable shell file. This is my own way: 1) rename it into unetbootin 2) delete /usr/bin/unetbootin 3) move unetbootin into /usr/bin 4) summon unetbootin from menu 5) works like charm! ![]() ![]() No more greyish hang window!
Thank you, bcooksley. I have dont this too but it seems nothing happens. I am sorry. But thank you so much. ![]()
Hello, acobar. Thank you so much but it is not something for casual-newbie like me. I am sorry I don't understand. ![]() @all: my Unetbootin problem solved today by using new Unetbootin (replacing old one in /usr/bin). I am sorry for very late answering. Thank you so much from Indonesia. KDE forum is always fast and gorgeous. I feel so comfort here. ![]() |
