How to enable "resize plasmoids when it breaks proportions"?

Yesterday my distribution (openSUSE) upgraded to KDE 4.10.2. I looked at the KDE release notes out of curiosity, and read that 4.10.1 should have a feature to allow resizing plasmoids even when it breaks their proportions. Since most desktop widgets I use have huge and pointless size limits (I complained about it here) I need this like air when it comes to my desktop.

However, the feature won't work automatically after upgrading to 4.10.2. Anyone know how to enable it? And will it really let me resize any widget however I want?

Oh... yes that works. Unfortunately it doesn't do what I was hoping and allow me to make widgets small enough :( Thanks either way though.

small enough? how small? there's probably a minimal size requirement due to what needs to be displayed

would adding a small side work?

I posted about it in the other thread. Basically, I can't use many plasmoids because their size limits are so large. Since upgrading to KDE 4.10.0 (from 4.9.5) the "LCD Weather" widget also got a higher size limit, due to which I had to remove it. Was hoping this would bypass that, but it doesn't seem to. What do you mean by small side though?

meant to say "adding a small side panel work?", as some widgets display differently when placed in a panel wondering if it might help you, though I see by your desktop this is not what you want

Oh. Yes, not what I want... talking about desktop widgets only.

In this case, I would still recommend filing bugs against the affected applets to get the developers of them to reconsider the applet minimum sizes. It is quite possible the conservative sizes are being set during QML rewrites.

Ok... I did that today for all 5 plasmoids I consider to have this problem.
