Hello, I just realized that my Kate won't run in KDE 4.10.2 that I just upgraded a few days ago. This is the error message from terminal:
I can't open Kate even via Terminal. I can't work with my texts in Kate (my favorite). I have reinstall it but same problem occured. What should I do? |

the last line of the errors is the key - "symbol lookup error" usually indicates that there is a disconnect in the libraries installed, I would look at the Kate package and make sure the appropriate version is installed

Okay, solved by doing upgrade via Synaptic for 2 packages:
Upgraded the following packages: libkateinterfaces4 (4:4.8.5-0ubuntu0.1) to 4:4.10.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu12.04~ppa2 libkatepartinterfaces4 (4:4.8.2-0ubuntu2) to 4:4.10.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu12.04~ppa2 You are right, there are libraries don't upgraded yet in my system, for Kate. Thank you. |

But now my Kate doesn't have Menu Bar. Even with Ctrl+M and Win+M. How to get Menu Bar back?

Are you using unity? It sometimes takes menu bars away, doesn't it?
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

Wow, amazing! Solved directly by editing that katerc in Leafpad. Thank you, Admin. Thank you, Developer. We all meet again in this thread ![]() My new curiosity is: what makes katerc variable value changed? And why Ctrl+M doesn't overwrite it into Enabled? Unity makes it or another? |

the lack of ctrl+m has been posted on bugs.kde.org, voting on it might help it get resolved

It has occurred in the past that crashing applications like what you experienced have "damaged" configuration files, which might explain why the menubar disappeared on you.
