fuzzy search in klauncher

Fri May 17, 2013 1:59 pm
How can I use fuzzy search in klauncher?

PS
  • By using fuzzy search it'll match "VirtualBox" by inputing "vbox" but normally it can't
  • I found http://www.launchy.net/ it supports fuzzy search but unfortunately ubunut's repositories don't have it

This is what google01103 meant - you can download .deb files from their website.
control file inside says that it depends on: libc6 (>= 2.4), libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1), libqt4-network (>= 4.5.1), libqtcore4 (>= 4.5.1), libqtgui4 (>= 4.5.1), libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1), libx11-6, xdg-utils
As long as you fulfill these requirements, you can install it through sudo dpkg -i <downloaded-file.deb> command. libc, libstdc++ and libgcc are part of core system; libqt4* should be pulled as dependencies by KDE SC (which, I assume, you use). Most likely there is no need to install additional packages.
Also, as far as I know, on Ubuntu you can simply download deb and click on it in your file manager to fire up installation. Pretty much as in Windows.

OMG I understood what he/she said :o I meant it's not available in the repository xD

By the way, my inquiry still exists ;)

By klauncher, I guess you mean Krunner (Alt+F2).

I guess it depends on the runner. Here "v*box" matches "virtualbox" directory from fsrunner, but not the application. However, "box" matches both Dropbox and Virtualbox.

I'm not sure if it's possible to change this other than on the coding level.

"v*box" matches nothing!
PS
I'm using KDE 4.9.5

Well, that's probably because you don't have the fsrunner plugin installed. ;)
Try "box" (without the ""), that should match the Virtualbox application.

Krunner works fine but (it matches "box") I'm asking about fuzzy search.

In case I want to look for "VirtualBox"
  • Krunner: can't find it in case I input "vbox"
  • Launchy: can find it in case I input "vbox"

That's it ;)

It seems I've to stuck with Launchy.

Krunner is a dump tool by comparing to Gnome-do and Launchy.
