Hey,
I have recently bought a Dell Xps One 27. It has a full 27" 10 finger touchscreen. So far I am only able to use 1 finger. For what I have read kde has builtin multitouch support (qt). Do I need to enable this? Does anyone have experience with using and configuring multitouch on kde? I have Debian Wheezy installed using 2.6.38-2 kernel from sid. The xinput-evdev driver in wzheezy does not support multitouch. The driver in experimental does (1:2.7.1-1) . I have this one installed. I hope someone can help me. There is not much info on the net about this. I tried to get the utouch-geis lib or ginn lib to work, but I did not had much success. Thank you Malic This informations is usefull I think: [ 7.012580] input: 3M 3M MicroTouch USB controller as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.7/2-1.7:1.0/input/input15 [ 7.012753] hid-multitouch 0003:0596:052A.0004: input,hiddev0,hidraw3: USB HID v1.10 Pointer [3M 3M MicroTouch USB controller] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1.7/input0 ➜ lsinput /dev/input/event15 bustype : BUS_USB vendor : 0x596 product : 0x52a version : 272 name : "3M 3M MicroTouch USB controller" phys : "usb-0000:00:1d.0-1.7/input0" uniq : "" bits ev : EV_SYN EV_KEY EV_ABS ➜ rules.d mtdev-test /dev/input/event15 supported mt events: ABS_MT_SLOT ABS_MT_TOUCH_MAJOR ABS_MT_TOUCH_MINOR ABS_MT_ORIENTATION ABS_MT_POSITION_X ABS_MT_POSITION_Y ABS_MT_TRACKING_ID ➜ xinput ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Dell Dell KM713 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Dell Dell KM713 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse id=12 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ 3M 3M MicroTouch USB controller id=14 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ MCE IR Keyboard/Mouse (fintek-cir) id=16 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Dell Dell KM713 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse id=10 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_FHD id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Fintek LPC SuperIO Consumer IR Transceiver id=15 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Dell AIO WMI hotkeys id=17 [slave keyboard (3)] ➜ xorg.conf.d/1-touchscreen.conf Section "InputClass" Identifier "evdev touchscreen catchall" MatchIsTouchscreen "true" MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*" Driver "evdev" #Option "SendCoreEvents" "true" #Option "AbsoluteScreen" "0" #Option "XAbsoluteAxisMap" "1" #Option "YAbsoluteAxisMap" "0" Option "Evdev Multitouch" "4" Option "Calibration" "185 32330 -680 32069" EndSection |

Hmm, I'm not sure if we do support multi touch actually - at least not with Qt 4, which is what KDE still uses at the moment.
Qt 5 does have some changes here I believe, although i'm not sure how much they function for linux system though. In any case, configuring X and the appropriate screen drivers (possibly wacom) is your first port of call here I would imagine.

I probably mistaked by looking at plasma-active
I am trying to compile plasma-active inside my debian/kde 4.8 environment. I have never compiled a kde so this could take a while to make it work. (Currently stuck at: Could not find a package configuration file provided by "KActivities" ) This environment would be really great to use on my touchscreen. The alternative is Touchegg. It depends on utouch-geiss wich is not in the debian repo so I need to compile it myself also. There is a kde fork: https://projects.kde.org/projects/playground/base/gestures-kde/ |

Not much reply here.
update: I have managed to compile the geis and touchegg libraries. They work, but there focus is way off. I will look furhter into that. |

For development help, you might want to ask on the active@kde.org mailing list, which is rather active I believe.

Hello,
has anything changed regarding touchscreen display support? Chromium and Okular have good touch support, but the Plasma desktop does not detect 'clicks'. Do I need to enable something? |
