Force GTK filepicker

When running KDE how can I force applications to use the GTK filepicker instead of KDialog.

(The reason why I want to use the GTK picker is because KDialog lacks the [most recently used] intelligent bookmark, which I find extremely handy)

What are intelligent bookmarks? Is this a Gnome thing?
