Hello Everyone,
I am the developer of TEENpup Linux and use the embedded Print Manager inside Konqueror to configure and to add new printers.

Please look at this example

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=Application
Exec=konqueror --profile filemanagement
DocPath=konqueror/index.html
Icon=konq.png
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=true
Name=File Manager (Konqueror)
Categories=FileManager

If you look at this line

Exec=konqueror --profile filemanagement

Konqueror will start not as a Web Browser but as a File Manager.

My question is in relation to the above line.
What do I change --profile filemanagement to, to get the Print manager to open.

See picture to see what I want to open.
file:///root/printer.jpg

This relates to KDE 3.5.4

I don't see the picture, but i am assuming you want to open "print:/manager".
So go to the profile manager with "print:/manager" open. Make a new profile, call it e.g. "printmanager" and be sure to tick "Save adresses in profile". Now you should see "print:/manager" in the address bar whenever you open that profile.
And now you can change the line to
Code: Select all
Exec=konqueror --profile printmanager (or whatever you called it)

I hope that was what you meant.

Hello neverendingo,
This is exactly what I wanting. I created the new profile and it now appears in Konqueror under
settings> load view profile> Print Manager

I modified the desktop file in usr/share/applications but keep getting an error box with "Malformed URL" in it as konqueror starts. Once I close that message konqueror opens and I can't select any profile at all and have to close konqueror again.

In the desktop file I've tried.

Exec=konqueror --profile printmanager
Exec=konqueror --profile Print Manager
Exec=konqueror --profile PrintManager

and keep getting that error message? The profile was created with the wording and spelling Print Manager

Ok, did you try without whitespace? I mean the profile name

Perhaps also try running it like this konqueror --profile "Print Manager". running KDE 4.1.2 ( upgrading to 4.1.3 right now ) and that worked for me.

Well bcooksley,
You did it by put --profile "Print Manager" it now works, Excellent!!
Also thank you to neverendingo for your advice and knowing what I wanted to do.

This improvement to accessing the print wizard via Konqueror will be added to the next release of TEENpup Linux. Again thank you.
