Since I upgraded from 4.10.5 to 4.11, I've noticed (of course on only one of the two very similar machines I've upgraded) that I get multiple crash reports when the system resumes. So far I've noticed that krunner, plasma-desktop, kded4, kmix, knotify have crashed with segmentation faults. They seem to be automatically restarted, but the crashed processes remain in my list of processes as "stopped" - of course this last bit happened once at least, but it is not consistent. Any suggestions?

Can you please provide the backtraces for the applications in question? I suspect their crashes are likely linked to a single cause.
Backtraces can be obtained from the "Developer Information" tab of the KDE Crash Assistant.

Here's what I have. I haven't recently seen the other apps I mentioned. It looks like knotify crashed several times recently, the following is from one of these events.
By the way, I have other issues. The main one is that kdm does not seem to run successfully (on either machine I have). I can get the system running w/ lightdm, but I do notice there is an instance in the list of tasks that says it is in the "zombie" state.

Can you please install debugging symbols for kdelibs, then regenerate this backtrace? This looks like a bug in libsolid, which is highly unusual. I gather you do have UDisks2 and UPower installed on your system?

Also, please state your distribution and the repository you used to upgrade to KDE 4.11.

I'm using Mint 13/KDE (based on ubuntu 12.04 lts) . The repository is http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu/ . I am running kernel 3.9.11 and I also saw this w/ kernel 3.8, which I had been using for a while w/ 4.10.5. Those crashes are all in the same place - in the Solid UDev backend, in the power button handling code. Please file a bug report at bugs.kde.org, and attach one of those backtraces.

OK, I can file a bug report, but is there any possibility this could be related to my particular hardware? The reason I ask is that the machine that is causing me problems is in a pretty old case, and the one that is working flawlessly is in a much newer one (as I mentioned they both have the same relatively new model motherboard). I gather there have been different types of case switches over the years (AT vs. ATX?), and I also wouldn't be too surprised at some incipient hardware failure.

Just out of curiosity, can you explain why the software would be doing power button handling, given that I never actually use the power button to resume, but always keyboard or mouse?

Events from power buttons are monitored in case the user wants to do something when they are triggered (see the power management module in System Settings to have an idea why this was implemented).

Upgrading to 4.11.1 seems to have cleared up the problem. I have not seen any crashes in two days, which is an eternity compared to the previous frequency of occurence, so I will tentatively assume this has been solved.

I had the same issue and I solved it just by rename .kde4/share/apps/plasma and I lost nothing. I have two plasmoids: notes and calendar, and both of them are still ok and plasma-desktop working back.
