Head Scratching Setting Time issue.

Wed Sep 04, 2013 11:58 pm
1) Bios clock set at 16:24 pm.
2) Dual boot with Win7

Win7 - Gmail shows message received at 4:25pm (16:25)
KDE - Gmail shows same message 11:25pm (23:25) +7 hrs. GMT I guess.

Tho have Digital Clock setting set to Los Angeles

Have Date & Time Settings set to Los Angeles with UTC unchecked.

Conky and tray show correct local time.

But gmail on the linux side is giving wrong time for messages.

Any help to resolve will be appreciated.

You need to use your distribution's tools to change the hardware clock definition from UTC to local time, as Windows sets the hardware clock to local time (while Linux usually defaults to UTC). The process for doing this is distribution specific unfortunately.

You can however set Windows (7+) to use UTC through a registry hack, to ensure consistency between Win and Linux. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ti ... in_Windows for more information.
