Hello all,
I am running Kubuntu 12.04 LTS which includes KDE 4.8.5. When I launch some applications (not all), they stay flashing in the taskbar even after they are launched and I click on then. They will stay flashing forever. I have the Oxygen theme and they keep flashing white which is very distracting. I've tried to disable notifications but nothing fixes the problem. Does anyone know what might be wrong? |

maybe this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275835
upgrading would be a good thing to do, changing themes might stop the flashing though the calls for attention (which I assume it is) might just be a different effect |

Thanks - that does seem to be the issue (or at least one very similar). It seems to be fixed in KDE 4.11. Unfortunately I cannot upgrade Kubuntu as I must stay on the LTS version. I'm relatively new to Linux - is there an easy way to upgrade KDE while staying on this version of Kubuntu, or is that just asking for trouble? If it will be too risky I can live with the blinking.

I don't see any newer Kubuntu offical KDE packages for 12.04 and I looked at the updates and backports repositories.
try closing and then re-opening the flashing apps sometimes that fixes it as should clicking on the opened app window |
