Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks for the "xhost +" tip. Was getting corrupted windows on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD + KDE. "xhost" helped. Now to investigate the 100% CPU utilization by kdeinit when logging in and when clicking klauncher. Cheers. |

How are you "clicking on klauncher"? It is a daemon process only without any graphical visibility.
As for kdeinit utilisation - perhaps try attaching a debugger using gdb to get a backtrace of what it is currently doing.

I had the same problem, in conjunction with VNC server. Possible workaround here:

I logged in as root and got this error. Without root, the problem is solved.

You do realise that GUI applications are not meant to be run as root to start with. Also answering to a thread from 2013 which is about code nobody uses anymore is not helping anyone.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
