Hello,
I've been using kdevelop for a C++ project at work. It has been a good tool, but is occasionally unstable, possibly due to the size of my project. It crashed today. I decided to submit a crash report through the crash reporter, which asked me to install some debug symbol packages and whatnot. After I gave it permission to do so, it proceeded to attempt to un-install about half of the packages on my system. I'm not sure why it would do this - apt-get didn't list any unnecessary packages when I ran an install a few minutes earlier. Anyway, I thought some of you other kde users would like to know about this behavior. Cheers, Larry |

This "I'll uninstall half of your system now, ok?" behaviour of apt-get is a notorious problem many people (including me) have run into in the past. There's nothing the KDE side of things could do about that -- please report this to the apt / debian people.
That being said, if you have the list of packages it uninstalled you can easily re-install them, and nothing will happen. You can also probably just pick a few, which will pull in the others as dependencies. Regarding KDevelop crashes, the newer versions are significantly less crashy than the old ones; updating thus makes sense if you have issues with crashes. Greetings, Sven
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
