I have done a clean install of Fedora 20 64bit using the KDE desktop and after entering my user and password the KDE screen appears and the icons start appearing. It usually stops with the last two icons not fully appearing. This is a PC with a Core2Duo processor and an ATI gfx card. I have extracted the .xsession-errors and some journal data which seems to have errors showing but I am not sure which if any cause this problem. Can anyone help please?

Well that is strange I tried to create a post and submit it but nothing appeared here, sorry about that dont know why. If I try to edit the post the data is there but nothing shows!!!! Also just found that if I quote the post the data shows up!!!!!
I have a problem with a brand new clean install of Fedora 20 64bit which will not start KDE. I enter the user/password and the KDE splash screen appears but the last two icons never fully appear and so it hangs at this point. I have copies of the .xsession-errors and an extract from the journal both of which show errors but I have no idea which if any are the problem. I would attach the files here but there is no way (apparently) to do it. Can anyone suggest what kind of things I should look for? Stuart |

if while in safe mode if you disable all effects in systemsettings does it restart in regular mode ?
for attaching text files: 1) use something like pastebin and add link 2) use the code tag and paste the test in the tags see http://www.bbcode.org/reference.php |

Well all I have done is start in failsafe mode, then logged out and back in without failsafe and it works.... I have not changed any settings while in failsafe mode.
Thanks for the tip about pastebin... I did use the code tag and it accepted the data but you can only see it if you edit the post or quote it. If there was too much data the forum should reject submitting the post in my view. Stuart |

using the code tag should provide a scroll bar on the code (text) window after a certain number of lines
