I have some ideas of how to disable the automatic refresh plugin, PackageKit/Apper . . .
but what is the recommendation of the members of the KDE forums board. It locks up the yum on new install with 422 updates, and I can use yumex for updates when I'd want later. Thanks in advance. |

Can you please provide more details on how it works? Does it sit in the System Tray as an icon, or does it suddenly popup notifications?
I would suggest looking for processes in the System Monitor to begin with - as that would be a good starting point for disabling automatic startup.

The icon sits in the system tray with notifications that there are some 424 package upgrades,
and the yum locks waiting on Package Kit for long times. I've learned that there may be some systemctl -disable and -stop <command name> that could be used as I try to define the command name using ps |

or just remove Packagekit |

Tried all the above and several other suggestion but the following is the only thing that worked for me on Fedora 20 64 bit.
[root@localhost ~]# systemctl disable packagekit-offline-update |
