Only Kmail doesn't bounce next to the mouse when launching.

I have set the icon bouncing when launching an application. Usually Kmail is too, exept nowadays. I think that's because I have changed somethings in its setting, but I can't find that option again.

I'm not sure there is a specific option for avoid startup notifications for specific applications, but I admit I never touch this setting usually.
I'll be moving this thread to Workspace, as this is not a specific KMail issue.

other apps still bounce?
if so, ensure that kmail isn't already running:
Code: Select all
ps ax | grep kmail

11566 pts/6 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto kmail

Well, I do have Kmail automatically open when I log on. However, I also have some auto program like Telepathy, and when I launch it manually, its icon still bounces.

kmail ain't running at that time.

you probably ran "kmenuedit" and manipulated a bit around?
run it again, find the kmail entry and see whether "enable launch feedback" is checked.

Well, I didn't know that. By default it has enable launch feed back.

If you configure another application similarily in KMenuEdit (except for the hidden part), does it demonstrate the same behaviour?

I have tried to check Kile, Qtransmission and Meld. They work as expected.

Okay. I suspect that KMail shows a window pre-emptively (such as the tray icon) which causes KWin to stop the mouse cursor bouncing animation. There won't be anything you can do to resolve this i'm afraid (although you could try disabling the system tray icon if you have it enabled at the moment).

A systray icon is not a managed window (kwin completely ignores it), nor should it appear long before the actual mainwindow (i assume)

Could be due to the icon and the effect or sth.
Code: Select all
kcmshell4 kwincompositing

2nd tab, disable "startup feedback" (this only prevents the compositor from taking over the feedback to have the icon antialiased etc. bouncing in general should still work)

-> does kmail bounce afterwards?

Do you see anything appearing on screen (even flickering) around the time KMail's cursor stops bouncing? Also, does the cursor begin to bounce in the first place?
