hello,

I am using Fedora 20 and can't make any changes to the screen locker. All options are grayed out. Can you help?
Thanks

Unusual. Can you please run "kdebugdialog" and enable all debug areas, then run systemsettings in a terminal, and post the output of trying to access the Screen Locker module here?

hello,

here is the output:

systemsettings(2838) SettingsBase::initApplication: Added "Adobe Flash Player"
systemsettings(2838): BEGIN: Loading backend
systemsettings(2838) BackendLoader::init: Loading "XRandR" backend
systemsettings(2838): END__: Loading backend [Took: 0.036s]
systemsettings(2838) KCMKScreen::load: Loading...
systemsettings(2838) FallbackComponent::filePath: Searching for: "HeisenbugHeisenbug"
systemsettings(2838) FallbackComponent::filePath: Searching for: "defaultdefault"
...
The last two lines repeated about 10 more times.

Also, when I execute >kcmshell4 screensaver
i get the same grayed out screen in a normal user mode and the following when executing from root:
[root@mylap-510 localuser]# kcmshell(3016)/kdeui (kdelibs): Session bus not found
To circumvent this problem try the following command (with Linux and bash)
export $(dbus-launch)
KCrash: Application 'kcmshell4' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/libexec/kde4/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/root/.kde/socket-mylap-510/kdeinit4__0
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/libexec/kde4/drkonqi directly
drkonqi(3017)/kdeui (kdelibs): Session bus not found
To circumvent this problem try the following command (with Linux and bash)
export $(dbus-launch)

executing the export $(dbus-launch) and then kcmshell4 screensaver
gives the screen locker with all selections grayed out.

Thanks for taking the time,

I can't help but it would help if we knew if it ever worked? if so did it stop after an upgrade of Fedora or of KDE ?

Please note that execution as root is not intended. Could you please provide a screenshot with all the options greyed out?

re: images, the forum doesn't host images you must use a 3rd part image hosting site like i.imgur.com, im9.eu, simplest-image-hosting.net, etc ....

to facilitate tagging there are buttons if you use the post's preview button

the tags are:
Code: Select all
for images
to resize the image (width size limit of 720 pixels) [thumb=500] http:/address_of_image [/thumb]
