Hi

The font rendering on the KDE desktop is inconsistent at 2 places as I noticed. Check this screenshot

Image

The font in the white area is different from that at the bottom, in terms of antialiasing/hinting levels. The correct font is the one that appears at the bottom.

Check another screenshot.

The font in the dropdown is WRONG. The font in other areas are correct.

System details -
Kubuntu 14.04
Droid sans font with autohint = false, hinting = full

Silver

thanks for the link.
yes it is the same thing. The fonts in the package list of Muon window are also having the same issue. I have attached a screenshot

The font in the "package" column are wrong, whereas the fonts in the status and requested column look correct.
I guess this has to do with the code of those particular applications, which are probably not using the hinting rules specified.

This is probably because the text in the Packages column is drawn manually by Muon, while the others rely on Qt code to do so. The Muon specific code likely needs adjusting to take into account these preferences.

that sounds correct, but the desktop settings dialog and Launcher Menu also need to be fixed. I guess the code for that is inside KDE.

Please file corresponding bugs for each of those components as well, including screenshots.
