Windows on Desktop

Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:43 pm
I have noticed that some users have created windows containing icons on their desktops. Since they are not located at the sides they cannot be panels.

Can someone tell me how to create these windows

Can you please provide a screenshot or a link to one of these setups? I suspect they're using a Folder View applet to do this.
You can do this by unlocking your widgets (available from the right click menu) then selecting "Add Widgets" (also available from the right click menu).

Thank you.

I'll post a link the next time I see a picture. I can't remember the locations of the previous examples. They were probably examples of graphics on backgrounds with icons moved into the location

While I am here, when I downloaded homerun kicker, I ended up with two widgets (Kicker and launcher in the widgets list) that appear to do the same thing.

I am also unsure how these widgets are designed to be used.

Best wishes.

A

Homerun and Kickoff are applets which approach the problem of providing a start menu in different ways - so it is extremely odd that they would be the same. Can you please logout and log back in again to ensure caching isn't causing the wrong applet to be loaded?

Please can you tell me how to use these applets.

Thanks.

I'm afraid I can't provide guidance on how to use Homerun as I don't use it myself. Someone else might be able to do so though.
