in the KDE system notification settings you have many default settings in "Event sources".

Can you add your own event source?

I would like to add a custom event source in order to have a custom icon for these events.

Does KDE4 allow to create your own event sources?

Probably (haven't ever tried)

see ~/.kde/share/config/knotify.eventsrc and /usr/share/apps/kde/kde.notifyrc
You might have to restart knotify4 after editing those.

You can trigger events using "qdbus org.kde.knotify /Notify ..."
