Question about custom color schemes in KDE

Hey,

I would like to know is it possible to launch different applications using different KDE color scheme (by color scheme I mean the one that can be changed from System -> Application Appearance -> Colors -> Scheme) ? I am using quite dark theme for all of the native KDE applications/workspace and I like it a lot. However, there are some apps I would like to use with default bright theme, such as Umbrello.

The next question is kind of off-topic, but if anybody knows what's up:
I recently updated my Arch Linux, and the package manager asked me to replace some of the KDE applications such as konsole and kwrite with newer version. This caused colors for konsole and kwrite to display according to the default bright color scheme even though I am indeed using a darker theme in my KDE workspace. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that konsole's / kwrite's About dialogs show KDE framework version as 5.6.0, where as Umbrello's About dialog shows KDE framework version as 4.14.4. Umbrello is also displaying the colors according to the currently set workspace color scheme. I suppose finding answer to my first question might solve this problem as well.

Thanks in advance!

(I don't have anything KDE installed currently, so I can't say for sure, but..)
iirc, there should be a command line arguement you can add to specify the color scheme (that is I know that there is one like --style which selects the widget style, but I think there is also one for the color scheme as well). Check the --help-kde and --help-qt options.

Now that I've had a chance to fiddle, I don't see an option to change the color scheme per-se. The option I was thinking of (under --help-kde), is --style which allows you to switch widget styles (oxygen, breeze, qtcurve, motif, etc.).

However, under --help-qt there are options for overriding the font and the foreground, background and button colors, so you should be able to use those to set up the alternative color scheme for certain applications.

You should probably ask the question about the different applications using different color schemes as a separate thread. It sounds like the KDE 4 applications are using one style/color scheme, while the KDE 5 applications are using a different style/color scheme.
