Hello all,
I always use a KDE version of Linux distro's, mostly Mint and at the moment OpenSuse, and with all distro's I have the same thing happening. When I click an icon on my desktop the icon turns into a negative image of itself. The program attached to the icon starts,no problem here. When I shutdown the program, or minimize it and I see the desktop again, the icon is still shown in negative colors. This stays like this till I click something else on the desktop. Since it happens with more than one distro, different distro's, I'm thinking of a KDE issue. What could it be and how can I solve this very minor issue, although big enough to ask help about? |

Well, what "icons" are you talking about exactly? Maybe post a screenshot to clarify. If it's about those icons in the folderview applet (which shows the contents of your ~/Desktop folder), then that's normal. By clicking on the icon you select it, and it's shown in selected state therefore. Click on the '-' overlay icon to de-select it, or click on an empty space. If you select an icon in your file manager, it stays selected too, regardless whether the corresponding application is running or not, no? ![]() |

Thank you for this answer. Is there no setting to change the "going negative" from constant into a pulse? Like, as long as you hold the mouse button it is in negative colors and as soon as you release the mouse it flips back to normal?
To be honest, I find it a bit strange that when I stop the program I have started and return to the desktop the icon is still in selected mode. It's over, it did what it should do and now it can return to normal. To be more precise, yes, I am talking about the icons on the desktop, which is set as folderview applet. Sorry for not writing that in the first place. I guess it is just something I have to live with. It's not a big burdon, but if there should be a way to change it I sure would likt to know about it. Thanks again. |

The folderview widget is no application launcher, but a folder view - like dolphin.
You can add application links directly to the desktop. |
