I can execute scangearmp from the command line, but I can't seem to find it in usr/share/applications or can add it to the desktop with a kate edit like I can with xfce or cinnamon interface. How do I need to add to desktop and to menu and in applications folder? Thanks.

the binary would normally be in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin, to find the location use the command "which" in Konsole
if you want to add it to the app launcher right click -> Edit Applications, the will start the KDE Menu Editor as to why it is not automatically in the menu I would suspect something to do with how it was packaged |

thank you. I'll check that out. I'm sticking to all the debian derivatives to learn the command lines. It's easier in Ubuntu, Mint and Xfce.
