This is on Kubuntu 15.04, everything was working fine before upgrade. I can still access the camera from Dolphin by typing camera: or by using Digikam.

lsusb output:
Code: Select all
Bus 004 Device 018: ID 04b0:0188 Nikon Corp.

solid-hardware listen output:
Code: Select all
udi = '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb4/4-1/4-1.5'

solid-hardware details output:
Code: Select all
parent = '/org/kde/solid/udev'  (string)
 vendor = 'NIKON'  (string)
 product = 'NIKON DSC COOLPIX AW100-PTP'  (string)
 description = 'Camera'  (string)
 Block.major = 189  (0xbd)  (int)
 Block.minor = 403  (0x193)  (int)
 Block.device = '/dev/bus/usb/004/020'  (string)
 Camera.supportedProtocols = {'ptp'}  (string list)
 Camera.supportedDrivers = {'gphoto'}  (string list)

Is there supposed to be a udev rule for this? How does the notifier learn about new hardware?

Have you found a solution for this?

I have same kind of problem with Canon Ixus 230 HS.
Dolphin does not show camera on the device list but I can access it with "camera:/"

dmesg
Code: Select all

No idea but the patches to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336523 sound prone (notably given the original bug)
