Hi all,

I'm a recent convert to Plasma from XFCE, and I'm really digging it. I am having an issue with touchpad configuration, though, and I can't find any mention of it in the forums. The problem is this: my Synaptics touchpad works, but I can't configure it via System Settings. When I go to System Settings > Input Devices > Touchpad, the module tells me "no touchpad found." But this can't be right, because I use the touchpad to navigate there! Although I could use the CLI to configure the touchpad, I'd rather be able to do it via GUI. Help!

Output of xinput list:
Code: Select all
Virtual core pointer                          id=2    [master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer                id=4    [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad                id=12   [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ ELAN Touchscreen                          id=14   [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard                         id=3    [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard               id=5    [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button                              id=6    [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus                                 id=7    [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button                              id=8    [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Sleep Button                              id=9    [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Integrated_Webcam_HD                      id=10   [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard              id=11   [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Dell WMI hotkeys                          id=13   [slave  keyboard (3)]

System as follows:
Linux 4.0.3
Manjaro Linux
Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem (Fedora 22 64-Bit, Linux 4.0.4, Alps Touchpad).

This issue seems to be a bug.

Thanks for digging that up, and I'm sorry to hear that you're having the same problem. I'm observing the exact same behavior as that reddit post: I can get Plasma to recognize the touchpad if I install xf86-input-libinput, but then I can't configure the touchpad because of libinput limitations. So it's back to synaptics and configuring via CLI.
