Online Accounts

Tue Jun 02, 2015 7:18 pm
Hi, my first post, so please be kind....

Just started using Kubuntu 15.04 64bit (KDE Plasma Version 5.3.1/Qt Version 5.4.1/Kernel Version 3.19.0-20-generic). In System Settings/Personalisation/Online Accounts it suggests: "Configure your internet accounts such as Google, Live, Owncloud"............yet, it doesn't offer Live Account option, nor Skype.

The links offered are of no interest to me. Is there any way to link to other accounts not shown??

Gadu-gadu, IBM Sametime, ICQ, Jabber, KDE Talk, Yahoo! Messenger...........who uses these? Never heard of most of them!

Thanks!

In your first post you want people to be kind but then you indirectly attack the people who implemented stuff only because you never heard of them!!!!
Also I would assume they got implemented because the developers use them and they don't use your favorite services.

****.
AIM, Jabber, ICQ, IBM Sametime and so on... 5-10 years ago, that would be great options
where is facebook or skype ? who is using icq since facebook and whatsapp ?? that's like you don't buy a mobile phone because there are some public telephone station out there
however...

the tooltip for the settings "Configure your internet accounts such as Google, Live, Owncloud"
there is no Live, there is no Owncloud

so, please, tell me too, where to find the offered services ?

Well, I think FOSS forums participants should not lose contact with reality and admit that it is true that some old services are rather unknown for most computer users on Earth. Shaunm has warned he's a newbie so, come on, let's not be so hard with his ingenuity and lack of prudence.
He has a point: some developers seem to live in a pararell universe, >:D, and sometimes forget about the real world; but, as someone has said, if they use such services why shouldn't they support them in the software they write?
Shaunm, if you need other more usual services, ask for them, but, politely, even if with some criticism (users, especially if donors, have the right to express our opinions about the importance of social relevance, and utility of apps, of course) and don't disregard services that, even if old and scarcely used, still work and are used by some people.
