I'd like my display config to not change on monitor unplug

Hello, I have a somewhat unusual setup. I have two monitors connected to my PC. However, sometimes I use one of the two for a gaming console. Presently, I have the PC and console connected to a switch box, which in turn is connected to the monitor. Pressing the switch on the box to change between the two inputs acts as if I've unplugged the monitor from one device and plugged it into the other.

As I'm not really using both devices at the same time, and given that switching between the two is trivial, I would like KDE to not attempt to reconfigure the displays when I effectively unplug the monitor from the PC. Under KDE 4, I would get a prompt asking me if I would like to let KDE attempt to reconfigure my displays when plugging/unplugging the monitor. Under Plasma 5, I get no such prompt. Rather, my displays are automatically reconfigured, my windows are moved and my panel is moved. Is there any way to avoid that? I really want it to act as if the monitor wasn't unplugged at all. My video card is an nVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti and I'm using the latest binary drivers. My distro is Arch Linux.
