[SOLVED]Weird Dolphin appearance

Sun Sep 27, 2015 9:32 am
Last night I booted my system like any other day and all of a sudden Dolphin looks like this:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByHZ0V ... ZiMVk/view

I've no idea where the problem may be, can someone help me figure this out?

Thanks!

as I don't know what your Dolphin used to look like can you describe what changed and whether other app windows are similarly affected

I do note you are missing icons in the panel under "search for"

Other apps look fine. I haven't check them one by one but Dolphin appears to be the only one affected. Before I looked ok, like this:

It's like something graphic is broken :S

no idea - looks like Dolphin is using a completely different theme

when rebooting or restarting KDE are you using "restore previous session"?

If you close Dolphin then open it in Konsole using the full command path /usr/bin/dolphin are there any messages displayed

KDE 4 or Plasma 5?

Yes, no previus session is checked.

Actually is KDE4 I work with. But in the about of Dolphin it says 5. That may be the problem, but how to handle it?

you should post the the distribution and version

from the output provided it looks like 5 (look at the commands called, ex. kdeinit5)

if you open in Konsole an app that looks correctly what messages are displayed, in the help menu -> about KDE what version is given?

that's the 5 version, you should have version 15.04.3

what is
Code: Select all
whereis dolphin
and
Code: Select all
which dolphin

using Yast you should be able to tell which repo the dolphin pkg came from

Re: Weird Dolphin appearance

dolphin: /usr/bin/dolphin
/usr/bin/dolphin

Both commands return the same.

Repos:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByHZ0 ... UJ3Z2hmRzg

Installing 15.04 now and works fine, but, how to prevent and auto update? Is something wrong with the repos, or maybe I have the incorrect ones?

And thanks for all the support :)

Re: Weird Dolphin appearance

if that repo that has 15.08 is actually http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_13.2/ then that is the KDE 5 app repo and you should not have it enabled if you are running KDE 4. this was explained somewhere but can't find it now

check out this page for recommended KDE repos https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_repositories\
