Hi,
sometimes KDE is behaving very weird. For example, i'm trying to run konsole and after appearing in task bar for a while, konsole window disappears. If i want to have it running i must to restart my computer. It's like a bug/crash of KDE. Is there a way to reinitialize or restart KDE without loosing any settings and data from my user accounts ? if i open a xterm and type "konsole" there, the konsole window is opened and everything works well.... but from menu item or with alt+F2, konsole is crashing automatically ![]() weird isn't it ? thx

versions of KDE and Konsole?
is Konsole the only app/feature that disappears? if you start Konsole in a xterm console window (I think it's usually included in distros) when it disappears are there any messages in xtem? when it disappears is a running process showing in Ksysguard? if so kill it and try restarting Konsole |

it seems in ksysguard there were more than 20 konsoles process
![]() so it seems 1 process was blocking all others ![]()

that only explains why you couldn't start a new session not why Konsole kept disappearing

One konsole will have segfaulted, the other processes are waiting for a dbus reply (the konsole/dbus implementation has alway been quite a problem - and I'm not conviced that konsole is somehow maintained atm)
If there's been no crash dialog, that could have been because drkonqi isn't installed. |
