Speech Synthesis in Notifications

Fri Nov 14, 2008 8:17 am
Hi,

I'm trying to use Speech Synthesis via espeak in KDE 4.1.3 Notifications (using "run command").

I'm using e.g. the command: espeak "new mail", but nothing happens.
Would be great to use generated speech output for different cases this way.

Is it a bug or am I missing something?

Have a nice day.

This feature has some problems yet :).

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176150

A workaround is create a script (for example newmail.sh), put in your home, and use it in "run command" (don't use fullpath, only the name of the script).

It works for me in 4.1.82 :).
