With older versions of KDE there was a great feature where it was possible to have many virtual desktops all with their own wallpaper (so you can instantly know where you are) and different icons and widgets.

I found this to be great with one desktop for my virtual machines, one for work, word-processing etc., one for system administration and one for multimedia, it was just brilliant.
It no longer seems to be available in later KDE versions, or am I missing something?

I know it's possible to have something approaching this with different activities, but using that is very awkward and clunky and nothing like as smooth and intuitive as the old system.
