I have set up a Desktop to display a folder, and have placed a .desktop file on it This file is a link (or, a Bookmark) to a web site. I'd like the .desktop file's icon to dispay the website's icon, and possibly reuse it elsewhere, on other Desktops.

I don't know how to get that icon image (a .png graphic file) into the Icon Source manager's 'Other Icons" display. I can add my custom icon individually, by browsing to the directory, but that's good only for the single replacement.

After clicking OK, and getting the icon on the .desktop file -- I'd like to know that I could return to reuse it in the future. Any information on this type of 'icon management' shall be most appreciated.

Directory Layout

Icons and themes are looked for in a set of directories. By default, apps should look in $HOME/.icons (for backwards compatibility), in $XDG_DATA_DIRS/icons and in /usr/share/pixmaps (in that order)...

With the KDE Frameworks 5.

Grabbing an icon, imhere.png, dropping it to the /usr/share/pixmaps/.

Now it is available from the 'Select Icon' dialog 'Other icons' Icon source:
