i need help reseting my kde5 desktop, for some reason all my icons are different colors no matter which icon theme i use .
but theyre supposed to be all one color like they are when i use the same icon theme in a different desktop enviroment
they are green purple , orange so now it looks ugly , and its like this all across my other icon themes no matter which i choose, so these colors are not inherent to the themes
but when i use these icons in other desktop enviroments they dont look like this

Another problem i have now is with google chrome after a system update. prior to update it was working fine,
now whenever i try to save or upload anything using google chrome i get this pop up window.
But this does not happen wen i use firefox or midori , only happens whilst using Chrome and Chromium

When it comes to linux , everytime there is a system update ,no matter which distro i use , a new problem arises , something always ends up broken , that's what i don't like, and find frustrating , and its always been like that for as long as i can remember

Maybe you have the Icon set for the folders ?

The KDE is using .directory files. If the folder .directory file has the 'Icon' key set then the KDE will use the icon defined in the .directory file.

The .directory files can be removed - the KDE will make new default ones if needed.

looks really quite complicated, i can read everything you wrote, and everything in the links you provided , but i have no understanding of what i am reading. i checked my home folder, but i couldn't find a .directory folder anywhere when i selected show hidden files in home, and when i deleted a folder in my home folder that has color in it , all it did was move it to trash and i had to undo delete to get everything back. Is there a straight-forward simpler method to reset all icon colors back to default by deleting a folder somewhere in root usr/share ? im using kubuntu 16.04 so maybe mine doesn't have a .directory folder

You could check with the command:

Code: Select all
grep -r "Icon" ~/*/.directory

The grep command is:
Code: Select all
GREP(1)                           General Commands Manual                          GREP(1)

NAME
grep, egrep, fgrep - print lines matching a pattern

SYNOPSIS
       grep [OPTIONS] PATTERN [FILE...]
grep [OPTIONS] [-e PATTERN | -f FILE] [FILE...]

DESCRIPTION
grep  searches  the  named  input  FILEs  for lines containing a match to the given
       PATTERN...

       -r, --recursive
Read all files under each directory, recursively,...

Open a terminal/konsole window to the your home directory.
Paste the command to the terminal/konsole and execute it.

If the sub folders have .directory file with the 'Icon' key there will be something like:
