How much longer must we wait for the advanced digital clock settings from KDE 4 to be moved to Plasma 5?
To have the long date, which many prefer, means having a lot of space on the task bar / panel taken up with eg. Saturday, November 12, 2016 as opposed to Sat, Nov, 12, 2016. As you can see, the full long format takes up a good 50% more space! Having the text shadow color was something I liked in KDE 4 too. I don't believe that losing these features had anything to do with moving to QT5! Why the advanced date and clock options were dropped is impossible to understand. It is more like a job half done. I realize that getting more programs moved to QT5 and getting Plasma 5 stable are more important but please finish this job. The Plasma 5 project overall is looking and working well now. I did a fresh install and went through the system and my complaints, things that kept me from adopting Plasma 5 earlier, are fixed. This does feel smoother and more stable than KDE4. Fortunately I use all widescreen monitors so I can live with the loooonnnnggg date. ![]() |
