Hi all,
I am new to this forum, I hope I'm writing in the right place. I have a problem accessing the Workspace Theme section in system settings. When I click on it, the window content stops refreshing (..sort of) and it's somewhat blocked. Occasionally moving the cursor on some parts of the window will still make appear some ovals with text in it (the usual things that appear when hovering on something that explain what that is). Still, I can only close the window (or reducing to icon, resizing, whatever). In order to investigate, I tried to start systemsettings5 from the konsole. There were no errors until I clicked on Workspace Theme, this is the output:
Clicking again shows other errors:
The first errors talk about missing kcm_lookandfeel and kcm_desktoptheme files, and something about QT_PLUGIN_PATH maybe not being set correctly. The files do exist:
I created the env variable:
Calling again systemsettings5 now gives less errors:
And I don't really know what to do. I looked for these errors online, and there seem to be a lot of references in different contexts, regarding plasma5 instability, stuff, and other stuff. I am confused about what can I do next in order to solve the problem. I am running Kubuntu 16.10 on a macbook mid 2007. Here's some info: inxi -Fz

This happens sometimes when themes fail to get extracted by the theme installer.
The downloaded theme package should still be in a temporary directory within your hidden ~/.kde configuration folder. Look for it there. /home/username/.kde/tmp-folder/theme.tar.gz When you find it, extract the theme package, then place the contents of that theme package in: /home/username/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/ Now you will be able to go to System Settings -> Workspace Appearance -> Desktop Theme and find and select the theme. Themes can also be downloaded with your web browser from kde-look.org too. Look for the section called Plasma Themes to get desktop themes. |
