Is there any way of disabling, preferably permanently, the popup that appears every time my mouse pointer hovers over a desktop icon? I find it increasingly annoying , that every time I go to click on an icon, that has, say, the Firefox symbol and the word 'Firefox' on it, for a large popup to appear that tells me this is Firefox and this is its symbol. If I didn't already know that, I would not have pasted the icon on the desktop, in the first place. As a statement of the blindingly obvious, it can have few equals. Scanning other posts, has so far not turned up any solutions to my problem. It, possibly, is not helped by there being, as far as I'm aware any listing or explanation of the many functions on a KDE desktop, and the terms used to describe them.

Disable the popups/informational tips/tootips.
If you are using the 'Desktop Layout': KDE System Settings > Workspace > disable the 'Show Informational Tips' ![]() If you are using the 'Folder View' Layout': Right click the desktop > Configure Desktop > Icons > disable the 'Tooltips' ![]() |
